A Fresh Start

Posted on Feb 28, 2007 2:34 pm in Home Theater Systems

fresh-start.jpg

So today is the last day of the month. February 28th, and thank God it’s not a leap year this year. I simply don’t have time for that February 29th right now; I have to get my money on! You see, we get paid at Best Buy on the 15th and then the last day of the month.

But yes, I always like the idea of a fresh start, and this is no exception. Tomorrow it’s on. No excuses will be given any merit starting…. tomorrow. Which kind of gives me free reign today to do what I feel like, GOSH! (Apparently the Napoleon Dynamite quotes just never stop for me). Anyway, mi gente, let’s talk about the latest samsung home theater system out there.

:0)

Just kidding.

I’m really sorry; it’s just that I talk about them day in & day out at Best Buy, and sometimes a girl needs a break, you know? You feel me dawg? And it just so happens that today I feel like talking about Fresh Starts, the movie The Secret that I need to download to my computer and watch immediately, and things of that nature. Maybe tomorrow I’ll jump back on the home theater bandwagon. You just never know.

Life

Posted on 2:14 pm in Home Theater Systems

Life is pretty funny, isn’t it? Not haha funny, not funny like “what you think I’m funny? Funny how? Like a clown?” I’m not talking about that. It just seems like things are either falling into place naturally or are completely out of whack. There ain’t no half-steppin. And try as I might to control outcomes, sometimes a person just has to accept that it’s not possible. For example, either you’re A) blessed at the moment with the best home theater system possible, or B) you’re stuck listening to tapes on your boombox from the 1980’s, back when rubber bracelets and 2 pairs of socks strategically showing were in.

I guess you just have to “go with the flow”. Even though that sounds pretty hippie to me. Those are just the facts. You have to “live in the moment”, “be present”, and all that jazz. The world is constantly moving. We have to change the things we can, do our best, and that’s it.

I’m so new-agey and zen these days; I’m not exactly sure what’s really going on. I kind of like it though. I think I’ll go right now and run a relaxing bath with my vanilla honey candle, listen to some Brazilian bossa nova on my Kef Speakers, and pretty much call it a day.

The Oscars Part Deux

Posted on Feb 27, 2007 11:19 am in Home Theater Systems

ellen.jpg

My first post of the day was Part One, but I see how you might get confused seeing as Part One was more about Leo than the Oscars. It’s an honest mistake though, seeing as the two are synonymous in my mind. It’s more like I watched “the Leonardo show” on Sunday than “Oh I watched the Oscars.”

Anyway, I think Ellen Degeneres is high-larious. A professional comedian. She just has this ease about her comedy. It’s genius. I used to watch her show a long time ago when it was a comedy and before it became a talk show and before it became to lesbianic for me. Is that a word? It should be. Every show just had to be about that topic, and it got kinda old.

And how about that American idol girl (Jennifer Hudson) from Dreamgirls winning the Oscar? That was great. I heard through the grapevine, but “you ain’t heard it from me!”, that Beyonce was none too happy about having to share the stage with her during their duet. To be quite frank though, Beyonce doesn’t hold a candle to her. That girl can sang! She sounded SO good on my Home Theater Speaker System.

My favorite acceptance speech though was Forrest Whitaker’s. What a stand-up guy. A real man. There should be more of them out there these days.

Home Theater Systems Sarah DiCaprio

Posted on Feb 26, 2007 4:02 pm in Home Theater Systems

So I’m sure that all of yous watched the Oscars last night. It was a requirement for me, a rite of passage. In order to live in Beverly Hills, you have to have a certain Sunday night blocked off every year for this very event. No exceptions. I dutifully retired my Best Buy shirt for the night and erased all thoughts of discount home theater systems from my mind. This was simply not the time for that.

Anyway, on to topics of higher interest. How good did Leonardo diCaprio look that night? Maybe I’m just riding high on the coattails of the Departed, but he is very sexy. Very. He has a je ne sais quois about him. It’s in the eyes. I wish he could have jumped through my Panasonic home theater receiver. I also love the fact that he brought his mom as his date. There wasn’t a beautiful Brazilian or Israeli model on his arm, just his cute little mom. I like that.

Smile like you mean it

Posted on Feb 23, 2007 11:06 am in Home Theater Systems

smile.png

Okay, so I lied. This post is not going to be about the latest Bose machinery, or even about the panasonic home theater receiver that is very, very niiiiiiiiiiiice (in my best Borat accent too). I highly recommend taking a gander at it next time you’re in the area where it lives at Best Buy or wherever you go.

But really what can you do about my fib? Not that much. Sometimes in life you just have to take what you can get. That’s one of the life lessons that I’m learning right now. One of my friends has a theory that there are like a thousand life lessons that we all learn at different stages. We each learn a different set of lessons too. And that’s mine for February 2007. Take what you can get, be happy with what you’ve got, love the one you’re with, etc. All different songs with the same melody.

But yes, smiling. I read somewhere that even just the act of physically moving your face into a smile can lift your mood and make you feel much better. Isn’t that crazy? I must have read it in my free time at school as part of my “homework”. You see, I’m kind of a rebel. But what high school student do you know who isn’t? I make my own curriculum though, and determine what’s best for me to read to further my education and knowledge. I’m not going to read that Shakespeare play just because you say so. What has Shakespeare done for me lately? We all write our own scripts, and mine includes Blink and home theater systems and speakers and what not.

Laughter is the best medicine

Posted on 10:48 am in Home Theater Systems

The title of this post is pretty ironic when in actuality it’s going to be a bit more serious today. HTS Sarah, your home theater system review champion, is going to tackle a somber issue today. How about how the whole system of medicine in our Western society’s culture really leaves something to be desired. When something goes wrong these days, people just take a pill.

Case in point: I went with my grandpa to his doctor recently. He has a serious problem, and he’s been taking natural supplements every morning to cure himself. He’s been doing everything right; getting lots of sleep, eating only organically, taking supplements, the works. And it’s been showing. When we got the results of his CAT scan we got great news. But the doctor, rather than attributing his progress to everything he’s been doing at home, just couldn’t admit that his work was partially if not fully responsible for his good news. The doctor kept saying, “Wow, this is amazing, had I treated you you would have thought I was a genius!” (He’s on this Watch and Wait program.)

It’s just kind of sad to me that the doctor couldn’t make that leap of faith and admit that pills don’t solve people’s problems anymore, not that they really ever did. Just because a natural supplement hasn’t been tested repeatedly in a multi-million dollar clinical trial doesn’t mean that it can’t be the cure for the most confusing type of disease. It’s the simple things in life, isn’t that what they always say? I think the doctors may be so far into the books and what has been scientifically proven and so forth that they could be overlooking the most simple cures that are right in front of our noses.

I just finished reading the book Blink by Malcolm Gladwell and that’s kind of the premise of the book. Sometimes more information is not better, and many decisions can be made in the blink of an eye. When we have too much information confusing us and making us ponder over every possible outcome or scenario, our decisions can be more faulty than had we just went with our first impression of the situation.

Okay, now you’ve listened to my ranting and raving. I promise the next post will be entirely about the Bose Lifestyle 48 to make up for all the time you’ve lost reading this. I know how precious time is. Time is of the essence, especially in our crazy technologically- inclined world. We all work in computers and sit in front of the computer all day and the tv all night. But are we really “advancing”? I’m just not so sure.

Food

Posted on Feb 22, 2007 6:18 pm in Home Theater Systems

chocolate.gif

Okay, so it may be a bit presumptious for me to be referring to chocolate as “food”, when in actuality it’s a dessert, but whatever. I’m home theater systems Sarah! I can do whatever I feel like. GOSH!! (Sorry, I just watched Napoleon Dynamite this weekend for the 50th time, and now I can’t stop quoting. My friends are not too happy about that, btw.)

But yes, isn’t food delicious? It’s so funny because I’m known around here as the girl that’s always in the cafeteria. Every recess, every lunch break, you’re sure to find me in that cafeteria. I’m not embarassed though. I’ve self-diagnosed myself as a Super Taster. Yes, that’s right, it’s a well-known fact in the Eating Psychological World (and yes there is such a world), that some people are Super Tasters. We have the uncanny ability to taste flavors that the rest of yous can only dream of. Pretty cool, huh? You’re either born with it or you’re not though; don’t even think about copycatting.

Anyway, I’m just having a blast over here listening to Salsa over here on my wireless surround sound system and eating food, the nourishment of my mind, body and soul (a little zen remnant of last night’s yoga class). The body is a temple. And yes, the word Salsa should definitely be capitalized, right up there with people’s names, days of the week, and products like Underwater Digital Cameras. Don’t mess with my Salsa. It’s saved my life on more than one occassion. It’s right up there with Food.

Namaste

Posted on Feb 21, 2007 7:07 pm in Home Theater Systems

yoga.jpg

So I’m off to my yoga class now. Let me pat myself on the back for a second. Who ever heard of a 16 year old who’s so into salsa AND yoga AND cooking? I’m a little ahead of my time, if I do say so myself. I think I may just get into Princeton if I study really, really hard for the SAT. It’s just that who has time for that these days? Well, I guess that’s what my Physics class is for. Sorry, Mr. Weinrot. But that science is just all a farce to me. It’s not really the force of science for me, but rather the farce of science. One big fat science farce.

Anyways, yes. I’m off to yoga now. It’s so good for your body; I can’t get enough. I DO have to force myself not to be thinking about the latest home theater system during the final relaxation, but it’s doable. You can do anything if you put your mind to it, right?

It’s A Celebration!

Posted on 6:53 pm in Home Theater Systems

celebration.gif

Well, maybe I’m overdramatizing it a bit. But it seems like the parties at Beverly Hills High 90210 never end. We just Shrillabrated a couple of weeks ago and here we were again, making toasts and celebrating at our high school assembly. You see, our principal Farhad has decided to pursue other options and is leaving us. :0( I think every high schooler around had a little crush on that one. But what are you gonna do? Right? I guess sometimes people have to be free to fly high. “Flying High”, what an appropriate term for our previous principal. We’ll miss you Mr. M.

So we broke in our new replacement principal at the assembly today with fake champagne and the works. It was fun, although the white plastic seats in the newly remodeled gym left something to be desired. The meeting was all about school spirit and pumping us up. Of course there was a PowerPoint presentation on the big screen to go along with the talking; what do you think this is, 1987? They used a bose 321 home theater system. With wireless speakers to boot, of course. We’re keeping it classy this year. For real yo. Beverly Hills High fo’ life!

Sushi is a great invention

Posted on Feb 20, 2007 11:34 am in Home Theater Systems

big-sushi-roll.jpg

Even though that roll in the above picture is a tad ridiculous. But I have to take my hat off to the Japanese. They came with it! And let’s not forget about Shabu Shabu too. They know what they’re doin, that’s for sure. I’m so craving some sushi right now. Here at Beverly Hills High we have catered lunch everyday. I know, isn’t that crazy? The PTA just put it into effect last month. We just have it like that. I’ve heard stories from my cousins that live elsewhere about lunch tickets and lunch money and things like that, but those are just wives’ tales to us Beverly Hillians. Fairy tales and legends. Although I do have to say that the food they serve us is a bit substandard. I know it’s difficult to serve in mass quantities, but we are what we eat. And I am NOT Hungarian Goulash with Buttered Noodles. No sirree.

So I think it might be Hide Time. STOP….. Hide Time. What ever happened to MC Hammer by the way? Was he just a one hit wonder? A has been? Has beens were a big topic in the movie Music and Lyrics that I just saw this weekend. Hugh Grant plays a has been who gets a second chance with Drew Barrymore. It was actually not that bad and far exceeded my expectations.

I saw it at my friend’s house on his Yamaha Home Theater System. Even though it’s out in the theaters right now, his dad got an advance copy because he’s in “The Industry” or “The Business.”, or whatever you want to call it. There’s only one of those in LA anyway. I’m sure you catch my drift. He had to fight his ex-wife for the copy, but he came away victorious. It’s so weird, he still works with two of his ex-wives. One was his secretary and got transferred to “assist” another executive, and the last ex-wife is an executive just like him. Crazy stuff. Stories like this are commonplace where I’m from though. Tupac talked about the mean streets, Dee Jay in the movie Hustle and Flow talked about how it’s hard out there for a pimp, and Beverly Hills Spoiled Sarah talks about divorces and botox and yoga and SUSHI. Let’s not forget this gem. Arigato to the Japanese. Domo arigato.

Home Theater in a Box

Posted on 10:55 am in Home Theater Systems

jt-snl.jpg

This post is dedicated to all things in a box; presents, home theater systems, etc. Did anybody see the Saturday Night Live skit with Justin Timberlake by the way? Hilarious. He apparently sees the virtues of things in boxes as well as I do. But yes, HTIB. Not for beginners. This is the real thing. I wouldn’t recommend getting one unless you are already well versed in dvd home theater system software that’s not in a box. You have to run before you leap everybody. Remember that.

What were we talking about though? Oh, that’s right, Justin Timberlake himself. Mr. J.T. I love Justa Just. He’s so cute! I’m kind of sad that him and Cameron Diaz broke up, but honestly, what are you gonna do? They’re stars. They live a life that we can only imagine. Although I did see them at Social Hollywood and Boulevard 3 about 6 months ago. I used my friend’s older sister’s fake ID. Don’t tell anybody. But I was basically in the two dollar seats and they were front row, metaphorically speaking. That’s just how it works in LA, Hollywood in particular. You have to get used to it. Only the strong survive. But I’ll leave you thinking about Justin Timberlake and how he’s bringing SEXY BACK! Sweet dreams everybody.

Bye Bye Miami

Posted on Feb 16, 2007 2:23 pm in Home Theater Systems

shore-club.jpg

Awww, I feel like I’m going to cry. I just left my bestest city in the whole wide world. Miami, where the water is beautiful and so are the Brazilian and Cuban men. Even though my dad kept a tight lease on his only daughter, mind you. I’m only 16!! Jeez.

To be very honest though, it’s hard to be thinking about panasonic sc ht 920 home theater reviews while at the Shore Club Pool. Yes, we definitely did Miami up in style. Ain’t no half-steppin for the Yaghoub’s. Our room had an ocean view. Of a real ocean. Not this half-assed thing we call an ocean in California. What an ocean snob I am, right? But honestly, there’s just no comparison between the Atlantic and the Pacific. Let’s get real people. Which do you prefer, a beautiful crystal clear warm waveless turqouise ocean blending into the sky, or a mean, angry, polluted dark freezing beyond freezing Pacific?

Although I did sell someone on the virtues of the Divinci Sound Systems as a whole while in the Shore Club pool. He was from Cuba, pronounced Kooba for all the rest of yous. A beautiful, beautiful man. They grow on trees over there on that island. Along with delicious passion fruits and mangos and guayabas. It’s just too bad that money doesn’t grow on trees for them as well. The Cuban guy was telling me that they get these vouchers from the government for food every month. The problem is that the vouchers only provide for plantains, rice and beans, and the families can only afford to make chicken once every six weeks. That’s just not enough! I kind of felt a little bad gorging on all the delicious Cuban food like maduros and camarones enchilados while I was over there. But apparently not bad enough to stop. I ate enormous meals on the daily, I just couldn’t help it. What’s a girl to do? I had to go with the flow.

Adios mi Miami, adios. For now. I love you.

Who wants to give Home Theater Systems Sarah a birthday/ Valentine’s Day present?

Posted on 2:04 pm in Home Theater Systems

valentines-day-present.jpg]

Now, don’t worry. That’s not me in that picture. She doesn’t even remotely look like me. Who ever heard of a Persian girl with blond hair? It’s just that I’m hard pressed for time seeing as today is a short day for the Presidents. Long Live Bill Clinton! The only president worth his weight in my humble opinion. Although I’m really really excited about Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. If either one of them runs, this will be a historic election. A woman and/or a black man running for president, and for one of the parties that actually has a chance. I haven’t done my homework, but I would bet anything that women and black men run all the time for parties like the Purple Party or the Friends Party. But this is for the honest to goodness Democratic party. We’ll see, we’ll see. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Anyway, this is what I want for my birthday MOM. None other than the Dav-Fx500 speakers themselves. C’mon mom, don’t you want to celebrate the day you gave birth to your amazing daughter? Let’s be honest. Who deserves a present more, your “good honor roll student” daughter, or your “barely goes to school weed smoking partying” son Arash? I’m just sayin’.

Home Theater Systems Sarah Shrillabrating

Posted on Feb 09, 2007 6:16 pm in Home Theater Systems

zillabration2007-073.jpg

So the pre-party last night was at my friend Teresa Danielle’s house. This is where the teachers really got wild. Just look at Mrs. P in the above picture! My friend Jazmin didn’t even recognize her and kept asking me if I knew who she was. Teresa has the latest yamaha home theater system hooked up, and we were having a dance party 2007. It was really fun. Teresa Danielle kept getting picked up by a guy in a white sports leisure suit though. Other than that, we had a great time in the Hollywood Hills. Hollywood, always up to no goooooood. White leisure sportscoat was trying to tout the positives of the jvc home theater system to Teresa Danielle, but his words kept falling on deaf ears. She only had eyes for her snuggle bunny, the karaoke king. We seriously celebrated from 9:30 am until 11:30 at night. That’s fourteen hours for all you mathematically-challenged folks. Fourteen hours of pure Shrillabration. You see, our mascot is the Shrilla. We Shrillabrated from dusk ’til dawn, I’ll tell you that much.

Projection screens

Posted on 5:55 pm in Home Theater Systems

projection-screen.jpg

I really thought that my friend John’s 70 inch screen was the pinnacle of my viewing days, but I must say that John’s crown has been stolen by our high school principal, Farhad. He’s the coolest principal ever and he insists that we call him by his first name. We had a party for the student athletes at his house last night with Persian food and everything. Us Persians may have our issues, but we sure can cook up a kebab! Anyway, we walked into one of the rooms at his house and there’s a projection screen hooked up to his panasonic dvd vcr home theater system. The projector projected onto the wall in front of it. I had such a fun time at the party; Mr. Ginnetti brought his daughter Luna and everything. Here’s a clip on You Tube of Mrs. Kelly doing karaoke.
