Home Theater Systems Sarah, a.k.a. Juanes #1 Fan

You might think it’s a little bizarre that a Persian-Jewish girl from the 90210 is obsessed with Juanes, the Columbian musical genius that writes and plays all of his own songs. But I am. My Peruvian friend Judy, who goes to my salsa class, turned me on to Juanes. My parents insisted that I take some form of organized sport activity so that I look extra well-rounded to the Ivy League colleges when it’s time to apply. I had just watched Dance With Me, so guess what type of organized activity I chose? Now I’m also Salsera Sarah.

Let’s talk about Juanes though. His words are so good, I feel like I’m right there listening to him in person. He loves his wife so much, and he puts so much passion into his songs. He sounds the best on the Bose 321 Home Theater System though, I must say. We put his CD on as we were cleaning up last night, and we were instantaneously transported to one of his concerts. I actually saw him last year with my boyfriend Jean Pierre that I was dating before we had a little falling out. I won’t get into that no, not enough time for that.

Not only is Juanes a great singer & performer, he’s also a humanitarian. He helps the Columbian mine victims with financial aid whenever he can. I just love him so much!

Home theater systems aren’t just for couch potatoes

sony-dav.jpg

Lest we forget, a home theater system does not just consist of a very nice, very big tv. There’s speakers involved in the mix too. The best sellers at Best Buy for last week were the Sony book shelf speakers. They were selling like hotcakes!

I personally am a big fan of the Sony Dav outfit (please see above picture), but I guess it just depends on how you want to dress up your house. You should hear how my Justin Timberlake CD sounds on it. One time, after work at Best Buy, we put in my JT CD and had Club Best Buy for about an hour. It was really fun. I never knew my friend Baron who works in the computer section was such a good dancer. He’s definitely got the moves.

Crazy! Home Theater in a “concept vehicle”

Posted on Jan 22, 2007 10:45 am in Home Theater Systems, Home Audio system

Suzuki Flix car
For some mysterious reasons I thought that a home theater system has to be installed at home. Apparently I am wrong. As I just read on the website of Businessweek, car manufacturer Suzuki presented a “movie-theater-style concept vehicle” that offers film enthusiasts the ultimate mobile movie experience. The “XL7 Flix” - that’s how it’s called - is kind of a crazy thing. After you parked it at the optimal film-viewing destination, Flix’s clamshell roof can be opened, revealing a maximum-size moonroof that serves as a 40-inch movie screen. Businessweek writes:

“The Flix concept is also equipped with a next-generation, high-definition DVD player with integrated hard drive for maximum AV storage, a professional THX/SDS-theater quality sound system, pivoting quarter window speakers and red door/floor strip lighting to complete a professional theater like experience. The interiors of the car are equally fascinating with four individual bucket seats that pivot 180 degrees to view the elevated giant screen.”

I mean. Who would want a Bose Home Sound System Theater when you can have this personal mobile movie theater? I am sure it’s not cheap. But what the heck - you only live once!

What I learned is crucial when buying a home theater system

Posted on Jan 18, 2007 1:15 pm in Home Theater Systems, Home Audio system

My postman showed up at my door this morning. There was no reason for it, he just wanted to deliver my mail personally and chat a little bit. When he rang, I was just in the middle of my research - and it occured to me that I didn’t know which component of a home theater system is the most important. So I asked the postman. “The speakers - without a doubt”, he replied without hesitation. He told me that without his high-quality speakers, the experience of watching a cult movie like the ‘The Third Man’ and listening to a great jazz songs by the legendary musician John Coltrane on his brandnew Pioneer home theater system would only be half as great.

We continued to talk a little bit more about gadgets and other stuff we would buy if we would have all the money in the world. After he left, I wanted to verify on the web what he said about speakers and found indeed a little of websites which stressed the importance of the home audio component. I learned that it’s key is to maximize the budget and that the speakers will have the greatest impact on sound quality. “So spend most of your budget there”, was the most common advice I read. Will do!
